False teachers beware!
Jeremiah 23:1 (KJV) Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. [These pastors are not of God, and lead people away from the true Shepherd, who is Jesus Christ. Pastors who teach doctrines and traditions of men (i.e., rapture doctrine), scatter the sheep of God's flock. When those scattered sheep study God's Word and hear the true words of the Good Shepherd, they are brought back into the flock of the Good Shepherd, who is Christ. It is not a good idea to teach and heed doctrines of men. Teach Christ's doctrines only; see 2 John 1:9-11 (KJV). Also, it might help you if you are a preacher or a teacher of God’s word to look at and learn from Malachi 2:1-2:17 (KJV). This must be repeated often so at least some preachers can learn what to do so they don’t fall into the category of false teacher. Study the word of God; what a concept]. Jeremiah 23:2 (KJV) Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. [They drive the people away from God instead of leading them to God. They scatter the people teaching them church doctrine and traditions of men instead of the Word of God. Judgment is coming upon these false teachers if they continue in their ways without repentance. Ezekiel chapter 13 is very, very important also. Where does judgment begin? God's house which includes the pulpit! See 1 Peter 4:17 next]. 1 Peter 4:17 (KJV) For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? Matthew 12:36 (KJV) But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. [This leans towards false teachings and traditions of men. This word "idle" is "argos" G692 in the Strong's Concordance; it means lazy, barren or useless. The word "speak" used here means to preach. This applies to those who preach and teach the Word. Remember, judgment begins in God's house; that includes pulpits. Don't pay heed to anyone including a preacher or teacher that doesn't know what he or she is talking about]. Matthew 12:37 (KJV) For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. [All of us, including pastors, will be held accountable for what we say and teach. God's Word is what should be taught; His word is truth, John 17:17 (KJV)]. Mark 7:13 (KJV) Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. [You cancel out the Word of God in order to hand down your own traditions. Christ warned against these traditions of men in many verses]. Another thing you must be aware of is that many who claim to be Christian preachers will deceive you if you allow them to do so. Matthew 24:4 "And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Take heed that no man deceive you." This is the number one warning, "Take heed that no man deceive you." This includes those that call themselves Christian preachers, men of the cloth, etc. Deception will be the foremost thing to guard against in the latter days; deception and deceivers everywhere will be a sign pointing to the end of this age/eon. This means that all of these events in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 will not happen all at one time but will take place over a period of time. These warnings or signs that Jesus is about to give us in the above chapters are the seven seals that are given to us in the Book of Revelation. How do you know when a preacher is not teaching the word of God? See 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) for yourself. Acts 17:11 (KJV) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. [Sounds like a really good example to follow; listen then verify. Receive the word with all readiness of mind, but search the scriptures to verify (true or not true) what you have just heard from a friend, relative, preacher, teacher or pastor. Put your trust in God, not man; see Jeremiah 17:5 and 17:7. We are commanded to study God’s word; see 2 Timothy 2:15 in a KJV Bible. Have you complied with this command? Sadly, most so-called preachers and church attendees have not]. ![]()
