Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. (Princes represent people in government). Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. [Many put their trust in man instead of God; they look for and seek the approval of man above the approval of God. Look at how many today that put their trust in some man or woman or a government instead of searching for the truth themselves. Don't be lazy and listen to a bunch of false teachers, hypocrites or lying politicians. God wrote you a personal letter, the Bible, to bring you out of bondage and into the freedom of truth. Study it like your soul depended on it. Will it be temporary or eternal? Smoking or non-smoking? Now that I think about it, your soul does depend on it]. Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. [This verse is very easy to understand. Trust in the LORD and seek His approval. A much better choice].
