James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. *What kind of activities are wrong? Fruits, works or desires of the flesh follow: Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Galatians 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Why are they wrong? We all must make a choice. Which is more important to you? Temporary pleasures or eternal life with God? Remember, there is no third choice. Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. *Knowing Jesus causes us to lose interest in the world. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. *Avoid worldly philosophies. Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Subjective Moral Reasoning [S.M.R.] comes to mind). *Live as though your home were in heaven, because it is. 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Again, I have attempted to connect some of the dots. Tagging along with the world results in one thing, becoming an enemy of God. I truly hope you don’t want to be in that boat. Continue to study your bibles completely. Food for thought: But what's the difference between fleshly desires and spiritual desires? It is said in Romans 8:5, “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”. Spiritual desires: This desire has been the driving force behind the world's spiritual traditions. It is the longing to know the Eternal, that which is beyond all limitations, beyond the province of the five senses and even death. It is the impulse that compels us to seek out prayer, meditation, contemplation, surrender. It compels us to seek a relationship with God; on His terms of course, not our terms. Fruits or works of the spirit follow: Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Galatians 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
