To clean the printhead of the HP Officejet 6600, you can use either the automated cleaning tool or the manual cleaning method. Automated cleaning tool Turn on your printer and load plain white paper into the tray. On the printer control panel, touch the Setup button ( ). Touch Tools, then touch Clean Printhead. The printer will clean the printhead. This process may take several minutes. When the cleaning process is complete, the printer will print a test page. If the print quality is still not satisfactory, you can repeat the cleaning process up to three times. Manual cleaning method Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cord. Open the printer's top cover. Locate the printhead carriage. It is the movable part that holds the ink cartridges. On the printhead carriage, you will see four ink nozzles. These are the small holes that the ink flows through when printing. Use a cotton swab dipped in distilled water to gently clean the ink nozzles. Be careful not to touch any other parts of the printhead. Allow the ink nozzles to dry completely before closing the printer's top cover and reconnecting the power cord. Here are some additional tips for cleaning the printhead of your HP Officejet 6600: Use distilled water or bottled water to clean the printhead. Tap water may contain minerals that can clog the ink nozzles. Be careful not to touch the printhead with your fingers. The oils on your skin can clog the ink nozzles.
