Tithe where you are fed!
There is a right way and a wrong way to do almost everything to include tithing. How do you tithe correctly? Tithe where you are fed the “true” word of God, not false doctrines, traditions and commandments of men. If you tithe to someone not teaching God’s true word, “you” become a partaker of their evil deeds (false teachings). Traditional teachings lead you to believe that you can buy blessings and salvation; not so, they are not for sale. What is the truly important matter? The important matter is to support the teaching of God's true word; feed more people with the truth. Tithing is more than just about you; it is about others as well. Please study each verse first in the (KJV Bible); see for yourself. Personal interpretation about each verse or set of verses follows in parentheses. 2 John 1:9-11 (Verse 9: 1 doctrine; one God! If you wander from the teachings of Christ (His doctrine), you will leave God behind; but if you are loyal to Christ and His teachings, you will have both the Father and the Son. It is very clear. Verse 10: John is saying, If anyone comes to you teaching anything other than what Christ taught, don't even invite them into your home. Don't encourage them in any way. Verse 11: If you encourage or support them in any way, you become a partaker of their evil deeds and wickedness. When you tithe to a church that is not teaching the truth of the Word, you become a supporter of their false teaching. Are you absolutely sure you want to do that)? Proverbs 11:4 (You can't buy your salvation. Believing in Him and repenting of sin results in eternal life). Zephaniah 1:18 (Again, you can't buy your salvation. See 1 Peter 1:18 also. Don't let traditions of men mislead you). Acts 8:18-22 (These 5 verses in Acts are saying that the Holy Spirit is a free gift from God, it is not to be purchased with a man's money. Did you know that)? Tithing actually has a true purpose. We are encouraged to aid and support the sharing of God's true word, not to muzzle it or counter it by supporting false teachings. What happens when we support the teaching of God's true word? By tithing correctly, His truths can be shared with more people; this results in increasing the size of the Kingdom of God. What happens if we support someone that teaches falsely? 2 John 1:11 tells you; the result is the Kingdom decreases in size. How do you know if a teaching is false? See if it checks out in God's word; verify it, one way or the other (Is it true or is it false)? Try the spirits, see 1 John 4:1. This responsibility falls on each and everyone of us; we as individuals must take action by verifying it one way or the other. Does it align with God’s word? If what is being taught doesn’t align with His word, don’t support it. Food for thought: God doesn’t send out beggars either. If someone is begging for you to give or send them money, they are not sent by God/Jesus Christ. Luke 10:4 "Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way." When you go out to minister to others, the Lord wants you to focus on His work and not waste time talking to old friends, and off shopping and doing things that take away from what you were sent to do. Sure, you can greet the friends that you meet, but stay focused on the ministry you were sent out to do. Do the word, and get back. The purse is what you carry your money in, while the scrip is the begging bag. Never take a begging bag with you while you are teaching God's Word, for it is a disgrace to God and on you. No true servant of God has to beg. It is a sign that you don't trust your Shepherd to provide for you. If you feed the sheep, the Shepherd will take care of you. Hidden in this promise is the fact that God's children that you are feeding will take care of you. The above verses, Proverbs 11:4; Zephaniah 1:18 and Acts 8:18-22 tell us we cannot buy anything in God’s Kingdom with earthly money. When someone begs for money in God’s name, they are going against the teachings of God’s word. Do you want to go against God? I certainly hope not. Like it says above, there is a right way (reason) and a wrong way (reason) to tithe. Tithe the correct way and for the correct reasons! Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Preachers that serve money/mammon cannot serve God).
